Member Absent from Service

Once you separate (terminate) from employment, you may elect to leave your contributions with the GESE Trust.  Each year the contributions will continue to earn interest based on the prior year’s balance.  Annual statements will be mailed each February to your address on record.

Please complete the Change of Address form to ensure your pension record is up to date.

Terminated Members

Once you separate (terminate) from employment, you may elect to receive a refund of contributions and any interest accumulated.  These payments may also be rolled over to a qualified plan.

Please allow 4-6 weeks for the GESE Trust to receive the official separation papers from the City of Miami.  The GESE Trust will then send you a letter outlining your specific options.  If you are employed more than 10 years and are vested, you may be entitled to a deferred retirement period.  See below for Member Not in Service.

Member Not in Service

Once you separate (terminate) from employment and are vested (10 years of service), you may elect to leave your contributions with the GESE trust.  When you attain normal service retirement age 55 or 60,  you may begin to receive a monthly pension payment.  A retirement application will need to be completed and an appointment with GESE staff will be required at least one (1) month before your pension payments may begin.

Annual statements will be mailed each February to your address on record.

During the time that a member left employment and attained the age of service retirement, a member can decide to receive a Refund of Contributions.  Once you withdraw your contributions, you will not be entitled to any pension benefits.
